Small accomplishments lead to big things! I’m not one to enter into competitions, but one of my goals is to showcase my work and be proud of what my two hands make. So, I made myself a little vulnerable and entered these mittens into the home art competition of my county fair. And it wasn’t so scary, especially since I got a first place award and seven bucks! The money, obviously, wasn’t the real reward but rather that blue ribbon, which I shall treasure for the rest of my life. It is the first award I have ever won for any of my creative endeavors but it shall not be my last!
Progress is made little by little. It took me a long time to build the skills to make those mittens. I didn’t wake up one morning and decide to knit and instantly started making perfect stitches. It was trial and error and experimenting.
I’m trying to take this mindset as I chug along at NaNoWriMo. I’ve only written 4,107 words but that is 4,107 words that didn’t exist before. Little by little, my friends. I won’t finish this novel in November at that pace but that’s okay. I’ll have made progress on a project that had been on the back burner for months.
So, now I’m off to knit and write a little more until one day all those stitches and words lead me to another accomplishment.
